FATIMA QURESHI is a freelance journalist and recent graduate from the Masters in Journalism program at the University of Hong Kong. She is a contributor at a few online-variety publications in the UK, gal-dem.com, Media Diversified, and a nonprofit refugee rights group, Table of Two Cities. Fatima also served as a Communications Coordinator at Justice Centre Hong Kong, a key legal service provider protecting and representing forced migrants’ rights.

Fatima completed an internship with the social news organization Rappler in Metro Manila, Philippines. She covered a broad range of subjects from labor disputes to human rights issues through a blend of mediums: writing, photography, live tweeting, and video.

From 2017-18, Fatima was the Vice President of her university’s WorldMUN project coordinating community outreach with well-known social activists and policy reformers in Hong Kong. She collaborated with Harbour Times to publish an exclusive article on the team’s plans for the bid in conjunction with the petition that garnered over 500 signatures.

Fatima currently works part-time at Table of Two Cities as the Media and Events Officer. She manages social media handles, hosts public events and in one of her latest works, produced a highlight reel of a charity event called ‘Yemen’s Silent Crisis: Refugees Speak Out’.

She is directing several documentary projects that run the gamut of controversial stigmas and biopics surrounding topics of sexuality and religion as well as one unique story on the founder of an African drum and dance company, Djijor.
